Payroll & Accounting Specialist
Thrive PEO is seeking a Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our Tulsa-based team. In this role, you'll manage payroll for assigned client groups while also contributing to key accounting operations, including 401(k) reviews, monthly reconciliations, benefits billing, and tax processing. What You Will Do
Process regular, special, and off-cycle payrolls accurately, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
Maintain employee records (new hires, terminations, changes, garnishments, direct deposit, tax setup) in compliance with regulations.
Reconcile payroll registers, resolve discrepancies, and prepare reports for clients and internal teams.
Provide first-line support to clients and employees on payroll questions and HRIS navigation.
Perform weekly 401(k) contribution reviews, approve funding, and resolve exceptions.
Process and reconcile benefit deductions and carrier invoices to ensure accuracy.
Complete monthly bank reconciliations and support month-end close activities.
Process payroll tax payments and filings while monitoring payroll liability accounts.
Assist with payroll, benefits, and financial audits by providing documentation and reconciliations.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely service delivery.
Document procedures and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
You'll Know You're a Good Fit for This Position If You Have...
3+ years of combined payroll processing and accounting/bookkeeping experience (PEO or multi-client payroll is a plus).
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, benefit deductions, and 401(k) remittance processes.
Proficiency with payroll/HRIS and accounting systems, plus strong Excel skills.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Clear and professional communication skills, with discretion in handling confidential information.
