About the Role

Kern Technology Group, LLC is seeking a Program Support Specialist to support the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV). Established to advise SECNAV and the CNO, INSURV’s mission is to assess the readiness and material condition of Fleet units. The Program Support Specialist will provide planning, coordination, documentation, and reporting support for inspections, ensuring accurate assessments and effective communication of results.

This position is ideal for veterans and defense professionals with shipboard experience who want to continue serving the Fleet in a critical support capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate pre-inspection logistics including team travel, schedules, and briefing events.
• Collect and review pre-inspection deliverables for compliance and maintain ship Case Files.
• Liaise directly with ship INSURV Coordinators to execute checklist tasks.
• Provide periodic briefs to Senior Inspectors on preparation status and logistics issues.

Data Collection & Documentation

• Collect and file all inspection results in accordance with INSURV guides and SOPs.
• Generate and publish accurate inspection reports documenting findings, issues, and recommendations.
• Develop and submit post-inspection event completion reports summarizing activities, incomplete tasks, problems encountered, and lessons learned.

Support & Process Improvement

• Coordinate pre-briefs, progress reviews, and final out briefs to ship commanding officers.
• Provide technical writing and project management support for inspection SOPs and software tools.
• Update inspection products and processes; provide feedback to government inspectors on improvements.

Required Experience & Skills

• Basic working knowledge of the U.S. Navy’s standard shipboard organizational structure and Material Management System (3M).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Minimum of 3 years’ project management experience .
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and technical writing ability.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Additional Qualifications

• Active SECRET security clearance
• Must meet physical standards for embarkation aboard Navy vessels (IAW COMUSFLTFORCOM/COMPACFLTINST 6320.3 series).
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. Passport.
